Grand Canyon Colorado with Smart-1 kayak

Kostyantyn Abramov completed the passage of the Grand Canyon (Colorado river, Arizona) using NERIS Smart-1 kayak. The expedition of the international group lasted from October 27 to November 5, 2019. 17-Day Upper Grand Canyon whitewater rafting trip floats the first 88 miles from the put-in at Lee's Ferry through Marble Canyon down to Phantom Ranch. This section of river is an excellent introduction to the canyon. The rapids start out moderate and grow larger each day, 19 major rapids rated 5 or above on the Grand Canyon scale of 1 to 10.

The kayak used in this expedition is a lightweight version of the NERIS Smart-1 kayak, produced with, particulary, TPU fabrics. Total weight is 16 kg (including a backpack for transportation). The design was made easier in such a way that it did not affect the quality and safety: the equipment proved worthy in difficult conditions, including river rapids. In addition, other NERIS products (dry bags, NERIS-Puff etc.) were used during the expedition.

The exit from the canyon with a depth of 1.5 kilometers took 8 hours. Details on the expedition route are expected soon, after the participants return home!
