Having released Dominic Toretto from custody at the end of the fourth part, Brian O'Conner and Dominic's sister Mia also find themselves outside the law. Now they can't stay in one place for a long time, risking running into the police following them.
When they are cornered, even in Rio de Janeiro, they have only one way out. The three of them decide on the last case, which should help them find freedom and get rid of constant persecution. Their task is to assemble a team of the best street racing professionals, because they will be confronted by a strong opponent – a corrupt businessman who wants to get rid of two friends. But he's not their only opponent. Federal agent Luke Hobbs, who is used to coming out victorious from any fight, has been following their trail for a long time. And catching Dominic and Brian becomes a priority for him.
The film was directed again by director Justin Lin, who already has the third and fourth parts of Fast and Furious. The old team will also be noted in the person of screenwriter Chris Morgan and producer Neil Moritz, who worked with Lin on the third and fourth films. The involvement of the same team for the filming of the fifth part is not at all a matter of habit or laziness of the producers. The previous film was such a huge success, which is not surprising – the creators are not averse to repeating its success.
